I'm from a small farming community in West Central Wisconsin. I grew up listening to country and classic country in the barn with my dad. I started to listen to dc Talk and Newsboys in the early 90's. That's what really got me started in Christian music. Dc Talk's Jesus Freak album was my first album I purchased. I went to a Catholic elementary and middle school where I took guitar lessons for 4 years and played in church for the school masses. I eventually drifted into listening to heavier christian rock music. I attended LifeFest in Oshkosh, WI in 2003. I love a vast array of music from country to rock to rap. I don't like hip-hop and a lot of the current pop music. While I listen to mostly christian music, I do venture into some Eminem and some mid to late 90's pop and dance. While I listen to christian music, I don't classify it as many people do. Christian music doesn't have to be about God in every song. I enjoy the music's upbeat attitude rather than a lot of the darker music out there. Christian music isn't a bad label....bands need to embrace their faith and let their music continue to come from their heart.
