Grew up with classical, still luv it. Luv trance/electronica and New Age - great 4 meditating. I recently discovebred ... do WE discover music, or does it find us? ... 'tango', especially the music from Argentina. Don't know why I like this genre so much, I just do. Maybe because this music speaks to a part of my soul that's been ignored and now feels something like ...
There is a universal truth. That truth is us...YOU. Music plays no small role in revealing this unique aspect of our Self, that is simply YOU. Music is a universal language. Complex mathematics within a composition is certainly one reason it's a universal communication medium. Another, and no less important reason, is that a piece of music can speak to a thousand people simultaneously. Those people may each hear it differently, but the FEELINGS that are evoked are shared feelings that are linked, making the experience uniquely and identifiably communal.
There really is a small voice inside all of us. Take a few moments, stop and just listen...simply listen. You'll be amazed at what you hear if you've never heard it before. It's good stuff. Really.
There is something much greater than ourselves. Something amazingly wonderful, amazingly embracing and so totally accepting (read: loving). We often find it -- or it finds us -- through music.
BTW, 'The music of the Spheres' wasn't just a catchy phrase.
