I spent 12yrs working professionally in local and national radio. My passion for music and my fascination with radio started at an early age in the mid to late 80's. I begged my mother to let me tag-along with her to WFBL-AM in Syracuse, NY to watch her do a radio interview segment on a local weekend talk show about health and wellness. She later did other weekend segments on WNDR-AM which was the sister station to WNTQ-FM 93Q, the big Top 40 radio station at the time. While Mom was hanging out doing her talk show segment, I met the Sunday morning DJ (Marty Santi) running the American Top 40 show off vinyl records on 93Q. Marty made me a cassette tape of weather bumpers, jingles and all kinds of fun noises. He also gave me a copy of one of AT40 vinyl records with the whole show. I would sit in my room using an old Karaoke Machine trying to play DJ. In high school, I got hooked on TV and Video but when I got to college I joined WJPZ-FM, Z89 the greatest media classroom on the planet. This was the beginning on my college on-air radio career and I was on the radio at Z89 and then later earning minimum wage to run the boards and broadcast TOH and BOH News at WSYR-AM, and spin discs at Y94FM, B104.7 and Hot 107.9 - quickly realizing I was not going to be the next Howard Stern and desiring a larger paycheck...(I could have made more money working at McDonald's)...I moved away from the on-air side of the radio business and over to the promotions / marketing side eventually leaving radio and ending up in the interactive advertising world. Pandora is blend of all my musical passions and I am having fun creating stations...if only the traditional radio business was like Pandora.
