Ten or twenty years ago my selection would not have looked anything close to this program.
A more moody and relaxed and less raucus mood now prevails. Picture a day on the porch or entertaining friends in a relaxed, social mix.
Americana, including Latin Amercia, prevails along with contemporary singer/songwriters as well as some modern classics. There's some REAL Country Western and roots music. Blues tends more toward masters like John Lee Hooker and less like Robert Cray and other imitators of the genre.
British and European influences get a good slice too.
I was weaned on San Francisco Underground FM staion KSAN and my older brother's record collection circa the Summer of Love and my older sister's Beatlemainia. I subsequently disciovered KYLO (kilo Country) out of Davis, CA and KFAT which morphed into KPIG currently styreaming live (and commercial free) at www.kpig.com. Check it out. It's amazing that free-form radio like KPIG still exists.
A current Album Orieneted Rock staion in San Francisco, KFOG.com, represents classic rock that is still relevant along with the new talent favored here.
Jazz influences will see their own radio station eventually and a "party" mix perhaps, refrencing some earlier moods will come later as well- even though you'll find some of them here, yet toned down a bit.
I wish Pandora could mix my selections up a bit more, yet the longer I add to it, the more I expect the program can adapt.
As Edsel Ford Fong used to say: "Check it out".
