I love almost all types of music except Hip Hop & Pop.
What I find myself wanting to hear/create to the most, is anything with great focused percussion and also Old School-Blues-y/Old School-Jazz-y Lyrical devotion...
That usually ends up consisting of World Music, "New Age, Meditation tunes, 20's, 30's, 40's, 60's, & some 70's music.
I do have to admit that I love much of the 90's Rock, Grunge, Ska/Punk, Folk, & Hard Rock/Metal, so obviously some quintessential 80's music as well!
As far as me listening to any CURRENT music (of this cruddy consumeristic time), I am very, very particular...
Certain Worldbeats mixed into Electronica/Ambient I like,
and great Indie music is about all I can stand to hear that is "new."
I love listening to John DeLiberto's: Echoes radio show here in CT. It's every Sunday evening, and when I miss it, I feel lost. Being a listener of Echoes since about 1997, I feel on many occasions, it's "introduced me to myself." Little Steven's Underground Garage is another favorite of mine.
Pandora is my way of hearing what I like, being re-introduced to songs I've lost along the way, and not having to hear anything I do not want to hear, which I otherwise call: "noise."
