I'm generally against misogyny in our culture & music; I like lots of diffrnt music styles - esp. ones that speak truth 2 power. I don't like to hear an over-abundance of love songs, but love songs are generally better than songs that feed our stereotypes about violence, drugs, and women - so long as they are positive in regards to gender & sexuality & body image (i.e. females shouldn't give up who they are for a man, it's fine for a woman to be promiscuous or prude or somewhere in between, but we weren't put on this planet to sexually satisfy men. Also, we all look different in regards to body image, style, and ethnicity and that's fine. And none of us should have to be rich).
I like civil rights music, blues, political hip hop, riot grrrl rock, queer core, jazz, new wave, all-girl bands, folk music (modern and old), dance music, synth-pop, funk, punk (especially The Clash & Le Tigre), Irish music, peace songs, protest songs, reggae, ska, female singers, queer singers, acoustic music, and more.
