I have always been very eclectic in my musical tastes – I’m a trained classical musician, but have been playing and composing jazz and rock since forever. Some of my all-time favorites include Dylan, Elvis Costello, Beatles (of course), Beck, Coltrane, Red Garland, Monk, Ellington, Brubeck, the list is too long… I’m always turned on by music that combines a good groove with something a little unique – a hip or unpredictable chord progression, a particularly expressive or beautiful melody, a witty lyric, a creative use of instrumentation, etc. I'm generally not into music that is highly distorted or dominated by instrumental pyrotechnics. Music should make you feel good...
