I have been PASSIONATE about music since I heard "Then Came You" by The Spinners when I was 10 or 11. It's triggered the most important parts of my personal evolution, cemented the most important friendships of my life, and catalyzed the most important parts of my education. It keeps me sane and figures into my teaching on a fairly weekly basis; I sponsor a music appreciation club, The Academy of Rock (see above link) and the school radio station (KWPE 98.3 FM). Against all odds--I have no talent--I have even participated in four bands: Wayne Coomers and the Original Sins (Fayetteville, AR), The Arriba Cowboys (ditto), Red West(Springfield, MO), and Possum Fat (ditto). I was lucky enough to find a wife who loves music as much as I do. I should write more (I have been published from microscopic to large scale in ANOREXIC TEENAGE SEX GODS, READY TO SNAP, HITLIST and THE VILLAGE VOICE, and was quoted by David Fricke in ROLLING STONE), but I make up for it in talking to people and posting links and commentary--I hope.
