I was raised in the 70's and 80's and was exposed to everything from glam rock and soft rock to folk and easy listening. As I became interested in music myself I explored a wide variety- punk, pre-grunge, new wave, classic, psychodelic, rave, industrial and even into some metal. As I reached adulthood and started having children, my tastes softened, and I have stayed closer to music with a groove. I still listen to some punk and alternative/grunge but it's more from a reminiscent perspective. If I was to typicalize what I like by naming a few artists I would focus on Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, and up into the likes of Spoon and Silversun Pickups as well as Pinback. I have developed a taste for Hip-Hop but am discerning and critical of mass-produced corporate offerings. I tend toward bands like Blue Scholars. It's nice to see urban projects using instrumental techniques rather than drum machines and tech at the heart of their craft.
