I grew up near Chicago in the 80s and collected multitude of LPs from Wax Trax in Chicago and The Turntable in Schaumburg. As a teenager, I loved Dead Kennedys, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Smiths, The Cure, My Dad is Dead, The The, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Clash, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Velvet Underground, Neil Young, Throwing Muses and all things 4AD. My favorite has always been Throwing Muses. I've often felt that if I could only listen to music associated with one artist for the rest of my life, it would be Kristin Hersh and I really wouldn’t have a problem with that.
In my 20s and 30s I mostly listened to music that was being produced by my friends and me. I was a working musician for a spell. My husband is an amazing songwriter. Our house is full of instruments and my son plays them all.
I'm doing an 80's alternative cover project with a great friend of mine right now-just for our own amusement.
I’m loving Pandora—awesome way to be introduced to stuff I haven’t heard before that I actually like.
