When I was 12 or so, I was given KISS-Rock and Roll Over.
It changed everything for me!
"Take Me", "Calling Dr. Love", "Ladies' Room". WOW!
My folks were listening to the Bee Gees and thought Disco was cool. This rocked my world.
Hello Columbia House Music club. Alive, Alive II, Double Platinum, Love Gun, and the biggie...Destroyer. I found and fell in love with Rock and Roll!
Then came Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Fastway, Motorhead, AC/DC, and the Crue.
Don't forget Van Halen!
Then I moved to Seattle after high school and became involved in the Northwest scene.
If the guitar solo on "Man in the Box" isn't straight from Ace Frehly's bag of tricks, I'll eat my shoe. In fact, Soundgarden, Alice, Love Bone, and the others, all scream out the fact that they grew up listening to KISS.
In my forties now, and my old heavy metal records still make me smile. It was so much fun! I don't have to have a deep meaning to my music to enjoy it, T&A, and Rock & Roll will do!!!
That's what this music is about.
On my station, it's always summer, my car speakers are on the top of my car, I have a J.D. buzz, and the girls are in their bikinis.
Tomorrow, I go back to work, but right now, ROCK AND F**KING ROLL!!!
