Because it's a common misconception, let me say this: I am an amateur linguist (I'm also French/English biligual) and there is a common mistake when referring to the languages of Ireland and Scotland. The native language of Ireland is called "Irish". It's part of the same language family as Scottish, but it is not the same language. So, the native language of Scotland is "Gaelic." There is no such thing as "Irish Gaelic". Now you know. :)
