I love listening to music and playing music. One thing I've learned through my studies is that labels are vapid means of compartmentalizing music for the business markets. Real music knows no boundaries and if you listen to great music you'll hear a wealth of influences in just one song. Bach knew this, Bartok knew this, Bob Dylan knew this, Duke Ellington knew this, A Tribe Called Quest knew this, the list can go on. And there's still great pop music being played today, you just gotta listen. Look at Adele. So get out there and listen, listen, listen till you can't listen no more. Life is too short to be closed minded, so open your ears and let those sounds sink in. Sun Ra once said that the very gravity that holds us in place depends on music. People thought he was crazy until string theory was discovered. Let those strings groove to the wealth of music out there.
