I remember the first time I heard this band, it was on the American Band Stand, they did not perform live, it was a video, in fact it was one of the first video, I had ever seen. Soon after I started to party! I wonder why? DE
There are only a small handfull of artists that I put in the catagory of unique and with no comparison. Queen is one of the bands and this song embodies that sentiment.
I Have loved Queen since I was a young girl. I saw them live only 1 time. I had just turned 21, my Father bought my Airfare to London. The moment Freddy walked onto the stage and entered the light. His presence blew my mind. He was so beautiful trully by far the best Showman I had ever seen. I saw Paul Rogers on the tele. He too I loved ... going back to The Firm on. But, thier was something missing. And that something was Freddy. I miss him so, and always will.
I love this song and I love that my 14 month old daughter and I can both rock out to it.

Not that I'm complaining, I absolutely love this song, but I was listening to a comedy station (mostly Weird Al, Da Vinci's Notebook, and Tenacious D) when this came on

I saw a documentary that was loaded with film clips from this time. Freddie went into the studio after hours, several days in a row, and recorded the 140+ vocal tracks that went into this song.
Everything about this song still blows me away -- the harmonies, the guitar solo, dynamics, everything. I bought this album when it was new and still getting chills as I type and listen.
One of the greatest songs of all time. It probably has the most unique lyrics of any song from its time.

Judging from the "...Also Appears On.." lists, Pandora is nearly as lazy as the Music Choice cable stations about citing the original album--it's not like "A Night At The Opera" is an obscure disc.

When I first heard this song, back when it was just getting airplay(on the car radio with my mother listening in bemused amusement), I don't know which was more startling--the song itself, or that it was playing on a Top-40 AM station.
