Randy Bachman

Randy Bachman is a Canadian rock guitarist and singer. He was born in Winnipeg and was a member of Chad Allen & the Expressions, which evolved into the Guess Who, the most successful Canadian rock band of the 1960s. He left the Guess Who in July 1970, made a solo album, Axe, and then formed Brave Belt, which evolved by 1972 into Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO). He left BTO in April 1977, made a second solo album, Survivor (1978), and then launched a new band, Ironhorse, in 1979, but was back touring with the Guess Who in 1983 and then with BTO by 1984. Another solo album, Any Road, was released on Guitar Recordings in 1993. The live Every Song Tells a Story appeared in 2002 from True North, followed by JazzThing in 2004 from Maximum Jazz. The Bachman Cummings Songbook saw the light in 2006. Also in 2006, Bachman issued a collection of unreleased Bachman Cummings project songs (originally recorded in 1987) dubbed The Thunderbird Trax. In 2007, another jazz-flavored release (JazzThing II) was issued, along with the Bachman Cummings cover album Jukebox. A DVD document of Bachman's July 7, 2007 live performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival was issued in July of 2008. For the 2008 holidays, Bachman released an album of Christmas favorites (Takin' Care of Christmas) -- with the titular track being a reworked version of the BTO classic "Takin' Care of Business." In 2010 Bachman and Fred Turner issued an eponymous studio album (Bachman & Turner), and in 2015 Bachman released the star-studded solo outing Heavy Blues, which featured appearances from Neil Young, Jeff Healey, Joe Bonamassa, and Peter Frampton. ~ William Ruhlmann

Don't read this because it actually works. You will be kissed in the nearest Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't post this you will die in two days. Now you've started reading s don't stop. This is so scary put this on the next five songs in the next one hundred fifty three minutes. When done press f6 and your lovers name will come up on the screen in big letters. This is so scary because it actually works

The Who was asked so many times to do Shakin All Over that they finally covered it live.
Bachman co-wrote These Eyes, as well as American Woman. As for his Brave Belt years (which at some point included Chad Allen), check out the song Dunrobin's Gone. It got some airplay, and sounds very Lightfoot-es q u e . . .

I guess I'm in the minority I like hearing this version, the BTO version is just so overplayed all around.

The guess who version of shakin all over is fantastic, the original johnny kidd and the pirates version didn't blow me away. Either way it's a awesome song. Rock on Randy!!!

Great song, but dissapointed that it was re-recorded as Randy Bachman. This version lacks the raw energy of the original.... . j u s t my opinion.

I gew-up listening to all his work. It never gets old! What tells you he's an icon is that kids today are listening to his stuff. All I can tell them is the good stuff never dies. Every song takes me back to some nostalgic memory. One of the best guitar artists ever - too bad he never gets enough credit for his works

Wow this song never gets old!

As an old radio rat who paid the rent more than once by spinning Randy's work on the air I appreciate his talent. As another fellow born in Winnipeg I'm also quite proud of him!

Growing up in the 60's and 70's I have appreciated Randy B. in his many musical talents. To me he represents change. Some of the greatest guitarist have picked up a little of his artistic qualities. Fact. I recall very well the days of eight tracks and Randy's tunes and associates..

Randy is a great guitarist. He and Cummings were as good a duo as McCartney and Lennon. Too bad they broke up. The "Guess Who" was early excellence in my high school years. Randy should get a whole lot more credit for his effect on Rock then he does.

I grew up listening to this, but not in the 60s. Gotta thank my Pops for that one! Good stuff.
