Pioneering Christian rocker Randy Stonehill began playing guitar at age ten, within three years winning grand prize in a citywide talent contest held in his native San Jose, CA. He issued his debut LP, Born Twice, in late 1971, and in 1973 recorded Get Me Out of Hollywood, which was never officially released; Welcome to Paradise, his first major album, followed in 1976. After a four-year hiatus from recording, Stonehill resurfaced with The Sky Is Falling, his final collaboration with longtime producer Larry Norman; Between the Glory and the Flame, his first release for the Myrrh label, followed a year later. By now one of CCM's elder statesmen, Stonehill enjoyed his most prolific period during the mid-'80s, issuing at least on album annually between 1983 and 1986; after 1988's Can't Buy a Miracle, he began work on the next year's Return to Paradise, the long-awaited sequel to his breakthrough effort. With 1994's The Lazarus Heart, Stonehill inaugurated his own label, Street Level Records. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
Just met him last night! Love him he'd do nice and sweet!! :) Love you Randy!!!!! "Shut De Do! Keep put the devil! Shut de do! The devil in the night! Shut De do! Keep put the devil! Light the candle everything alright!!" :):)
Good start on the Stonehill albums. Welcome to Paradise, Equator, Lazarus Heart are definitely his best. Maybe Wonderama & between Glory & Flame next. Skip Sky is Falling, can't buy a miracle
What can anyone say about Welcome to Paradise but thank you Randy, Larry, the producers, and Thanks to the other players. It was then and is now perhaps one of the finest recordings ever made.
BTW I started playing Acoustic guitar in 1971 and continued for 40 years. I've heard thousands and thousands of albums. This one is right at the top.
Wlecome to Paradise was indeed a fantastic album. This guys discography is so deep over the past four decades--what a shame Pandora doesnt have the early stuff.
They just do not make music like they use to...it all sounds the same and it sounds copied from the world...just saying!

What a talent and what an instrument of our God. Got to sing Sunday's Child with him in Hernando, Ms. this spring. He blessed my soul, although I went dry in the throat and ruined the song for him...

Love you Randy, you have been an inspiration for so many years...great humor, awesome meaningful lyrics that always touch my heart. Breakfast at Denny's will always be an eye opener for me..you have been so faithful and your talent is unmatched to me. You've made Jesus smile..

Randy Stonehill is humongously responsible for MANY teen, twenty & thirty-some christians remaining strong. 1970s through now.

The Stonehill album that needs to be on Pandora is "China." It includes the one about Denny's, as well as fast food, and China.

Also a big fan of Welcome To Paradise. Would really love to hear cuts from that album here on Pandora.
Does anyone remember the song he sang about Christmas at Denny's tonight? I sure would like to hear that one. It's a sad reminder to think of the ones who have no one at Christmastime....maybe from bad choices of the past but nevertheless we should reach out to them

Only one Randy Stonehill album on Pandora? That's a shame.

I still think "Welcome to Paradise" is one of the best albums of all time in any genre. If it had not been "Christian", it should have won Best Album in 1977. (Instead, being labled "gospel" it was ignored by mainstream radio. There was no "CCM" genre back then.) So, Pandora, where is it? Surely you can get the rights to include cuts here.
