Christian-based post-grunge outfit Red first got their start in Pennsylvania playing contemporary Christian covers to area youth groups. They soon grew tired of pop songs, however, and began crafting their own hard-edged rock tunes that often confronted personal issues from their lives. According to lead singer Mike Barnes, the name Red was chosen as a symbol "for the blood of Christ and what it represents: passion, pain, but ultimately, redemption." Comprised of Barnes, Jasen Rauch (guitar), Hayden Lamb (drummer), and identical twins Anthony Armstrong (guitar/vocals) and Randy Armstrong (bass/piano/vocals), the group cited influence from bands like Chevelle, Linkin Park, and Muse. Spearheaded by the single "Breathe into Me," their first nationally distributed album, End of Silence, was released in June 2006 on Essential Records. Always wanting to directly connect with fans through their energetic live show, Red spent the summer touring nationwide, including dates at multiple festivals. A van crash put injured drummer Hayden Lamb on the sidelines for their 2007 headlining tour, but the group soldiered on -- gaining mass appeal with their rapidly growing CCM fan base. Later in 2007, the band took home the Rock Recorded Song of the Year award at the 38th annual GMA Dove Awards. By late 2008, a new album was in the works and, in 2009, it was announced that their next release (Innocence & Instinct) would hit shelves on February 10th of that year. ~ Corey Apar, Rovi
great band all i have to say, i love the song breathe into me and faceless

@Coleman and @lhollis91: I meant I should tell ya momma on you. Scroll all the way to the right to see it. I didn't know the band was called Red also, since it said By Digi-12 in the title. I figured that someone who worked at Pandora was really drunk, or maybe someone hacked Pandora.
The only thing I don't like about Red is the lack of solos. Don't get me wrong--I love listening to them, but a solo in songs like Breathe Into Me would, I think, make it so much better
...therefore I like Red, P.O.D, Pillar, John Reuben...Christian artist

Christianity was never intended to equal Religion the way the world considers religion to be. In fact it is intended to equal a Relationship with God and that w/ our Lord Jesus! The only religion that is GOOD is feeding the hungry, helping and healing the sick, visiting the widows, providing healing and deliverance to the broken hearted the best way you (we) know how.
Yeah, I guess I am one of those people who don't understand. So could someone please explain to me how it is that a band comprised of Christians is not a Christian band and how songs about Christian beliefs are not Christian songs? It just does not make sense to me. Red is one of the best bands ever and part of that is because THEY ARE CHRISTIAN.
Muse is pretty good, but I think RED is better. Both me and my brother when nuts when we saw the pre-order for their album Faceless. So far though, I think that Innocence and Instinct is their best cd. They have a great sound!

I will say they have some good songs but pillar, Kutless and Muse are the bomb. Check out muse there pretty awesome if you havent heard them.
the thing I love about Red's music, is that it even though its christian, it can be enjoyed by everyone including non-religious people like myself. for those seeking God, they can find it here; for those who aren't, they find fantastic music instead

cannibalcloud, sorry you feel that way. go to a skillet show and then get back to us.
For the people worried about Christ not being mentioned in bands like this, well if your concerned read your Bible and you'd recognize how many times bands like Red and Skillet quote scripture in their songs...:) Ever read the book of Psalms? It's a song book and sounds a lot like some of these bands actually (lyrically that is)....still don't like your worship music rokin? fine then click another band...:)
pudiiverda1
either you like them our you dont, but i like them

I like how everyone mentions that Red hasn't mentioned anything about Christ in their songs. Obviously you never listen to the words in any of their songs. Ever. Listen to the song Pieces.
Question...why argue? If you don't like it don't comment. Christian music doesn't mean Christian people always. I didn't even know Red WAS Christian until just now, when I decided to read their description.

I wish they didn't have the crap digital music that some other band named Red made. IT'S NOT THE SAME BAND, PANDORA!!!
According to lead singer Mike Barnes, the name Red was chosen as a symbol for the blood of Christ and what it represents: passion, pain, but ultimately, redemption.
I agree with a few of these comments. Without Pandora, I would not have hear of Red. Also, I'm not even slightly religious, but their music is damn good.

If it hadn't been for pandora I would have never found this band. I love it and thank you pandora!
