its a love song about having a crush on someone, trying to find the words to tell them "choosing my confessions." he tries dropping hints "i havent said enough" but then worries that his hint was too big "ive said too much" and the person responded in a way that confused him "i thought i heard u laughing/singing/try." the whole thing is just really getting to him and he's "losing his religion" (a southern phrase that means he's had it and cant take it any more)
