Hailing from Kansas City, MO, the Republic Tigers spike their lushly orchestrated indie rock with organic and synthetic elements. Co-founder Kenn Jankowski originally moved to Kansas City in 1999 and began playing guitar for the People, a band that later changed its name to the Golden Republic. He also made fast friends with local musician Adam McGill, and when Golden Republic disbanded seven years later, the two multi-instrumentalists opted to launch their own pop-based project. Taking their name from Jankowski's high school mascot, the Republic Tigers expanded their lineup with guitarist/pianist Ryan Pinkston, bassist Marc Pepperman, and drummer Justin Tricomi. Electronic structures began playing an important role in their music, and the band issued a self-released EP in late 2007 before putting the finishing touches on Keep Color, which arrived in 2008 on Chop House Records. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi
MUST READ THIS!!!! I'd just like to say to all of you people posting these comments saying your gonna die or date your crush are not true. You will not actually die or fall in love. Trust me, I've tried one and it didn't work (obviously) and I read one and never died... I mean really people are so stupid out there!!! Someone just started it to freak people out. So can you please just chill out and stop? Repost to get word around
I have the album "Keep Color" and it is really very good. Cool vocal harmonies, lots of musical variety, and they even sound a little like Sunny Day Real Estate near the end (e.g. "Stranger to the Eyes of a Child-Man" and "Fight Song"). Lots of musical influences at work here. Very worth a listen or 20! I am guessing that, because of the high production standards, that ryancschultz is probably correct about waiting to see them live.
This band is fantastic! Saw them in a club with only around 100 people, they sounded really good. They could use some polish...but I look forward to the next album!
