Riddle Of Steel

St. Louis, MO's Riddle of Steel was started by ex-Five Deadly Venoms bassist Jimmy Vavak, who traded vocals with guitarist Andrew Elstner. They were joined by drummer Ken McCray for 2001's Burn EP (on St. Louis indie Ascetic), but when McCray split with the band amicably, he was replaced with Dave Turncrantz. Turncrantz remained behind the kit for Python, the band's full-length Ascetic debut, which appeared in summer 2003. The album showcased an emo-punk sound punctuated by intricate guitar work and the alternating vocals of Vavak and Elstner. ~ Johnny Loftus, Rovi

Very cool. I've been looking for a music genre to "get into", indie is just too shoe-gazey, 60's-retro fuzz pychodelic is sometimes too hippy, but early 70's-retro harder stuff is great. These guys came up on my Dead Meadows radio, wish they had like 20 cds!
This band is fantastic! I'm a St. Louis native and it's always good to see good music come out of our town. I was able to catch their last show ever in 2009 and was absolutely blown away! Check out the track 'This is a House of Lies' for a full taste of their greatness.
cool band. thanks Pandora!

1985 stayed in my car CD player for an entire summer. It was that good.
Wonderful! I saw them a few years back. They put on a great show, and are great guys. I'm really happy they're on Pandora! The guitar player used to own me at Ms. Pacman.
I've never heard these guys, but I'm diggin' it.
The track Aquiline is simply mesmerizing. can't stop playing it.
Great band but from what I know the bio is off cause their drummer is rob smith last i checked. Of course this is before they split.

Very cool sound. These guys came up on my "Built to Spill" station. I must say I am enjoying it!
Good to see some local boys doing well. We've got a ton of rappers and crappy pseudo-metal bands with emoish singers here in STL. Finally someone breaking out of the mold a bit.
Who loves these guys? I loves these guys.
