Scotland's Runrig was formed in 1973 as a trio by Rory MacDonald, Calum MacDonald, and Blair Douglas, adding Donnie Munro the next year. The band plays a version of traditional Scottish folk music with a more anthemic rock sound; they are known for pride in their heritage and their spirited energy. The band has been on a steady rise in the U.K. since signing with Chrysalis for their biggest-selling American album, The Cutter and the Clan. While popular in Britain, they remained largely a cult band in America, with followers in the Celtic and folk arenas. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
One of the best groups ever. Lyrics that have meaning and beautiful music.

first time I heard this band I was at the Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornaway Scotland. It was our first trip to Scotland, fell in love with the country and this band, they are great to see live, they have so much energy
this needs updating. They have cut what i consider to be their best album,"Everything you see" with Bruce Guthro doing the lead vocals.that album is already two years old.

I really enjoy them. While I'm certainly no expert on anything musical, either artists or their music, it has amazed me that Pandora has introduced me to so many artists, bands and groups that have been around for many years without me ever hearing them. I ask myself "where in the heck have you been"? Thanks again.
zephat- First one I got on my "Pirate Metal" station was their song "From the North." off of their Proterra album. Create a station based on the band Alestorm, and you should be good to go. These guys have popped up in the past as well on that station, but I came right nere when From the North started.

Really remind me of Big Country - another great Scottish band. RIP Stuart Adamson!
