Ryan Shupe & The Rubber Band

With a unique sound that's hard to define, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband mix acoustic sounds with slightly skewed lyrics to create something out of the ordinary. The closest comparison might be to Fishbone or the Presidents of the United States of America; however, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband use much cleaner lyrics. The band is made up of Ryan Shupe, Wally Barnum, Roger Archibald, Craig Miner, and Rory Carrera. Shupe is the lead vocalist, plays fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Barnum plays bass; Archibald is the guitarist; Miner strokes the banjo, bouzouki, guitar, and mandolin; while Carrera beats the drums for the band. Two of their songs, "Go to Hell" and "Snow," were used on the soundtrack for the motion picture God's Army. The Utah-based band released their debut, If I Were a Bird, in 1996 on the Tydal Wave label. Simplify arrived in 1999, followed by Live! in 2001. Dream Big from 2005 was their first release for the major label Capitol. ~ Dacia A. Blodgett-Williams

A secret treat few have discovered. Unique, amazing musicianship , and one of the best concerts I've ever seen live. These guys should be promoted. And rrem1718, you've had two years to consider how ignorant your last comment was about this band. Are you over yourself yet?

Since people are name dropping, I'll join. I've watched Ryan since he played Mama's Cafe down in Provo. Roger lived in my complex and Rory played with Peter Breinholt, as did Ryan before they really started taking off. Peace out!

I think Craig Miner at least has been with the band since the beginning. They are great live. While a student body officer at BYU, we had them come and perform several times. Very professional and highly entertaining ! They're great in front of large or small audiences and their themes are very uplifting and clean. Refreshing with all the negative, degrading music that can be found in any genre.

I love Ryan and the band. When I have a crappy day I put "Dream Big" on repeat and I just listen to it over and over and it does help me move on "and feel okay"...the music is different and outstanding. . n e v e r gets old!!
