Sabicas (born: Agustin Castellon Campos) was respectfully known as "the king of Flamenco." Credited as the first guitarist to take flamenco out of Spain, Sabicas toured the world, amazing audiences with his technical abilities, lightning-fast speed and "perfect" tone. ~ Craig Harris

After 2 weeks in Spain & Portugal I came home craving the music and created a Fado Portuguese instrumental station on Pandora. I am thrilled with Sabicas! What a treat to listen to him!

Sabicas (Agustín Castellón Campos), Flamenco guitarist, born in 1912 in Pamplona, Spain and died in 1990 in New York.
He began playing guitar at age 4, then performed at 6. Influenced by Ramón Montoya. Beginning in 1936 he toured in South America with bailaora (dancer) Carmen Amaya. Sabicas later settled in New York City.
Best known for his perfect pitch and technical skills: Blazingly fast picados (scales), fast arpeggios, and infallible rhythm.
