Who Knows Where The Time Goes?

Lyrics

Across the purple sky, all the birds are leaving
But how can they know it's time for them to go?
Before the winter fire, I will still be dreaming
I have no thought of time

"Who Knows Where The Time Goes?"
I'm really liking this Sandy Denny version more and more because I find myself increasing the volume whenever it comes on.
She's got such a haunting voice here.
And the lyrics:
Superb!

A lot of people think Judy Collins wrote this song but it was Sandy. While both do it more than justice I cannot describe the beautiful place I go to any time I hear Sandy sing. Especially on this song. If only she had not died so young...
"Who Knows Where The Time Goes?"
I'll be seeing Judy Collins at The Colony Hotel (Palm Beach) tonight so I'm listening to her music today.
On comes this version of one of my favorites and I'm 'blown away'. I had not heard Sandy Denny before and if her other songs are half as good as this one, I'm eager to hear more.
As to which version I prefer, Collins or Denny, the jury's still 'out'.
I will say this: after hearing the Denny version only this one time, it's close.
Very close!

Gorgeous, elegiac song. I very much question the taste of anyone who prefers the Judy Collins version.
Love her voice.
..not bad, there is a better version I like better tho'. Thompson's guitar playing really makes this song!
beeutifullll . . .
Two words.....RI C H A R D THOMPSON!
Don't like this version.
Clearly, Richard Thompson providing electric guitar accompanieme n t . What a great player.
At the risk of being maudlin, I think this would be fitting for a funeral too. I think I'd like it played at mine.
Beautiful, beautiful song - it's a favorite with my Dad and I; it might be what I'd like to play for the father/daugh t e r dance at my wedding. =) The words would fit well, I think.
This was also redone by Judy Collins.
