Broadway star Sarah Brightman was the inspiration behind such stage hits as Phantom of the Opera and Requiem, written in her honor by ex-husband Andrew Lloyd Webber. Born August 14, 1960, in Berkhampstead, England, Brightman began dancing at the age of three, and ten years later made her London theatrical debut in Charles Strouse's I and Albert. By 1976, she was a dancer on the television series Pan's People, and later led the pop group Hot Gossip, which in 1978 scored a U.K. number one hit with the single "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper." In 1981, she was cast in the role of Jemima in Lloyd Webber's Cats; there she and the composer were introduced, and he divorced his first wife to marry her in 1984. Their relationship lasted through 1990, during which time Brightman created the role of Christine Daaé in Phantom, also appearing in Requiem and Aspects of Love; after their divorce, she toured in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber: A Concert Spectacular. In addition to her stage work, Brightman also recorded a number of solo albums, including 1988's The Trees They Grow So High, 1989's The Songs That Got Away, 1990's As I Came of Age, 1993's Dive, 1995's Fly, and 1998's Eden. The following year saw the release of The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection, which featured some of her finest moments from Lloyd Webber cast recordings, as well as The Songs That Got Away. Luna followed in the spring of 2000; Encore appeared the next year. Brightman then adopted a Middle Eastern theme for her 2003 release, Harem. Love Changes Everything: The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection, Vol. 2 arrived in 2005, followed by the CD/DVD Diva: The Singles Collection in 2006. In 2007, Brightman appeared on BBC One's Just the Two of Us and performed at the Concert for Diana, the Shanghai Live Earth show, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The following year saw the release of Symphony and A Winter Symphony, as well as the airing of the PBS special, Symphony: Live in Vienna. The calendar year was further highlighted by her appearance at the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing, which gave her mass exposure to Asian and also Latin American audiences. She spent the next three years touring in both those regions. In the interim, the Live in Vienna concert was released in audio format in 2009. In 2010, Brightman became a permanent resident of the United States. After a five-year lull, her next studio album, Dreamchaser, was released in the early months of 2013. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

I know this is odd... but I first learned about Sarah Brightman from her role in Repo! The Genetic Opera. Since then, I've listened to everything I can, and I really can't get enough of her amazing voice. It's amazing how we come across things. Anyway, kudos to Brightman for being able to fill so many roles. Blind Mag and Christine Daaé are two truly different characters, and she made them both so real to me when I heard her sing the parts. Truly spectacular!
Sarah is just incredible- she can sing anything and sound fantastic. Not only that but she is beautiful and charming. She is every man`s fantasy. I have had the privilege of seeing her in concert 5 times & will be seeing her again this coming September.
Staskowits, I hate you. With a passion. Vibrato is amazing or i wouldn't be the baritone I am. I love and respect sopranos. Yes they can go over the top but no one else but you feels that way:) we don't care
Dear Staskowits, Kindly stfu. I'm suuuuure you can sing much better than her (I mean, you said so...so it MUST be true right?)... But in truth, nobody cares. She's amazing, you're a whiny, jealous baby. Deal with it.
Her voice is on 70+ million CD's and DVDs. Somebody must think her voice and style is great. Twice a featured singer on the opening of the Olympics and is the only person ever so honored.
To just about everyone who has posted here in the past two months: English, motherfûcker, do you speak it?!

@essara22- yes you must! My mom and I saw her live a few years ago and she was stunning....absolutely incredible. Talk about a true "triple threat" performer....she has amazing talent and her stage presence is out of this world.
You can't even compare her to someone whose voice is as perfect and ethereal as Enya... and she's nothing like Hayley Westenra. Her voice is too nasal for my tastes. Sounds like she's singing while she has a cold. I infinitely prefer female vocalists such as Tarja and Enya, and the lead singers of Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Leave's Eyes. Thumbed her down.
