Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies

Like Collective Soul and Cry of Love, the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies were a classic hard rock band that arrived at the height of grunge and alternative. Collective Soul's hooky songwriting meant that they were able to fight to the top of the charts. The Wheelies fared better than Cry of Love, who sank without a trace after one hit, simply because they survived to make a second album, but they never quite managed to cultivate a true fan base.

The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies -- surely one of the most ludicrous names in rock history -- formed in Nashville in 1990. By the time the band signed to Atlantic Records in the post-Nirvana craziness of 1993, the group consisted of vocalist Mike Farris, bassist Steve Burgess, drummer Terry Thomas and guitarists Rick White and Bob Watkins. The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies released their eponymous debut album in early 1994, after "Shakin' the Blues" made the album-rock Top Ten. Over the next two years, the group toured relentlessly, eventually selling over 100,000 copies of the album and getting consistent airplay on AOR stations. However, most of these copies began showing up in used bins, and when their second album, Magnolia, appeared in the spring of 1994, it was generally ignored. Big Wheel followed in 1998. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

You are all correct nobody can fill the void that this band left behind. Only Gov't Mule comes close!
Hey Bobonit...Yo u never did one thing musically that would match up with these guys ....they are still better than you on your BEST day B**CH! Your just another a**hole talking about what others have or have not done...What have you DONE? no wait I don't Care...F**K YOU!
Like Collective Soul and Cry of Love, they were no talent noisemakers just hacking out chords and riffs that everybody has heard before.
Best live band I have ever seen. And I made a life of going to live shows. Its a shame the world just doesn't know
Greatest live band I've ever seen.... HANDS DOWN!
FROM THE BIO ABOVE ...when their second album, Magnolia, appeared in the spring of 1994, it was generally ignored. Big Wheel followed in 1998.

I didn't ignore either one of them. The ones who did just missed out.
Great live act!!! Milk Bar Jax.Fla. 1998
this band was GREAT!!!!!!! ! Most people just don't get it!!!!!!
Truly special. Good guys too. Eclectic fanbase.

Memories.

They headlined a outdoor fest Atlanta Masquerade club. Talked to Mike prior. His hair tucked under a Rage Against the Machine cap.

Problem was, bands played long. The venue had a 9 pm Noise Ordinance. 2 1/2 songs they bad to quit playing.

The many fans felt so unfinished. The Roadie (Todd??) grabbed a guitar. I jumped onstage. Sat my a** legs hanging off the stage. Todd and I started the crowd up, singing One Big Drop o
wheelifs one good band to bad more popular now
'Venus' is a great song.

I have to agree ~ the Wheelies are beyond compare. I have several copies of Magnolia because I never want to be without it.
Amazing band! Wish they would play WheelieFest in PA again!
This band has ruined music for me...literal l y ! I became a huge fan of theirs back in '93 and have never been able to find a band that measures up to them since. These guys are true artists! Ever since SCW vanished, I have relentlessly searched for a band who may possess even one particulate of their collective talent but I have never been able to even come close. I keep hoping that one day they'll surprise us all and release a new album that will hit the main stream. Maybe that way they wou
Some of my best memories from my college days are the fun times I had following these guys on tour for a bit, watching them play outdoors at fairs and inside unique bars. I was lucky enough to get to hang with them for a bit- and still remember how embarrassed (and star struck) I felt when all I could say in response to Bobby Watkins' question, "What music do you like to listen to?" was "SCW, of course!!!" I used to tell them I was going to apply to be on MTV's "fanatic" show, just to get them

I have been to literally hundreds of shows over my lifetime, but I believe the best were the powerful, intense soul rock shows by the Wheelies in the nooks and cranny dive bars across the country ! I miss road trips and the incredible high these guys could produce in the crowds. If you didnt get to see them, find someone who did, grab one of their many boot CD's, and sit back and get blown away.
One of my favorite bands ever. Love how Rick and Bob played guitar together. Saw the band at the Zephyr club in Salt Lake City, UT almost 15 years ago. The club is gone but I still have my Terry Thomas drum stick and drum head autographed by the band. Good times!!!!!

I've seen the SCW at least 20 times in around NJ, NYC and Vermont. I saw them for the first time at the Horde tour in 1995 (i think) with Blues Traveler, The Black Crows and Big Head Tod and The Monsters. The band set up their own equipment and i did not even relaize it until the started to play after the sound check. I was blown away. They are my most favorite band of all time and I've seen them hot sypmhonic sound more than once. Truly spine chilling rock with heart and soul. I miss seeing the
Te were indeed awesome...bu t Mike is still playing, often around Nashville. I've caught the new act twice he's as amazing as ever!

These guys are awesome. I seriously screwed up by not seeing them when they toured in the Washington,d c area.

I love SCW! I have both of their CDs
These dudes need to get the band back together. They would make a good warm up band for the black crowes or lynyrd skynyrd
i was 21 when i first saw scw at the pink flamingo's in knoxville tn in the spring of 93 ever since then i always wanted to be like mike the dream still lives on
One of the best live bands ever. I saw them 10+ times from 1995-2000 in Columbus, Cinci, Lexington, Louisville, Nashville and anywhere within a 3 hr or so drive. Best show I remember was New Years Eve 1998/1999 outside of Toledo OH.
Saw them at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta several years ago. SCW was probably the only band I ever listened to where I loved pretty much EVERY song on EVERY disk and NEVER got tired out listening to them over and over...crank e d to 11.
I really miss these guys. I'm grateful that I got to see them on their tour for the Big Wheel album. Even got to talk with them after the show and can't say enough how nice these guys are. I got a chance to see Mike Farris with Double Trouble and that was pretty good, but not as good as SCW :D. One of my rock and roll fantasies is to become a mega-million a i r e and pay these guys to record albums for the world.

I saw them twice live and they were really good. It's a shame we don't hear from them anymore.
I went to high school with Mike Farris...awe s o m e voice that raises chills on your arms and stands the hair on the back of your neck up...
