Seawind

This influential late-'70s pop/jazz outfit boasted in-the-pocket grooves, clever horn charts, and Pauline Wilson's signature vocals set to lyrics that (more often than not) clearly communicated a Christian world view. In their peak, Seawind produced only three albums, but Pauline and husband/drummer Bob released an album in the early '80s, and various other members have made their mark in the L.A. studios, playing on a myriad of projects. ~ Thom Granger, Rovi

I Love this Group, I wonder where they are NOW ... I would be the first in line to buy a ticket if they were in concert ..

I first saw this group at the Diamond Head Crater Festival as "OX" and later as "Sea Wind". I loved them back then and still do today. I really missed this group.
In 1978 when I got stationed in Alaska, the music of Seawind got me there... Man I loved this group.
Seawind horns are tight

Boy I miss this group.
I'd love to hear tracks off the other two albums, particularly their self-titled one.
U go sista Pauline . Saw U at Emme's mothers service. U still got it
Love Pauline Wilson's voice, brings me back in time!
They were best band I ever heard and better live

What is not to love! I first heard Seawind when I was attending college in Dallas in the late 70's. I got all of the LPs but would love to find the CDs. Great music and I love the message too!
my,my,my,my. . . . b r i n g s tears to my eyes.....the memories.
I've been looking for this album or a copy since i gave my album collection away in 1987. my late wife and got tired of moving them every time we relocated:(. Replaced most of them with CD's but not this one and maybe Mandrill. What FIND!!!!! Excuse me while I get my ears massaged...
Why don't they play Seawind's other 3 albums on this station?? Talk about missing out !!
Yup "Follow your Road" must have been one of the jazz anthems of the late 70s-early 80s. I still respond to their music after all these years.

I had one of the earliest songs of this group on a cassette tape. It was called, I believe, "Still In Love." I liked it even better than "Follow Your Road," but used to play the two together all the time. The cassette is long gone and I finally can hear this fine band again but I miss that original song. It doesn't seem to appear on any of their albums.
One of the best bands to come out of Hawaii! : )
This was one of the first jazz record I brout was I eas in high bschool and I love the group and wish they where still together one of the best at that time
Follow Your Road is the best song ever. It took me way back when times were slower and better.
Hot Band. I remember back in the Islands where they started. Playing hot Jazz music in the 70s. I think they were called Bamboo back then before they changed their name. luv them

I saw these guys in Pittsburgh on tour in the 70's and wow!!! Pauline and the band were fantastic and delivered sensational inspirationa l lyrics with hard hitting jazz funk fusion. I wish they would get back to the studio and then the road. Is anyone listening?
Pauline has a powerful voice and I admire the horn arrangements . Seawind was a great group!

I love the message of their music!
Ahhhhhhhhh.. . . . , such spiritual energy and healing when needed, puts me back on track, close to where I should be!....
I saw Seawind with a group of my partying friends back in the '70s and absolutely fell in love...bough t their album and listened to it all the time. Every word to "The Devil is a Liar" has stuck in my head my whole life and I would even sing it to my kids later on in their lives....It has been a tremendous part of my Christian walk to remember the words to their songs and sing them out loud when I needed it most....Than k s Seawind!

I saw them free at a live jazz festival at the UC Irvine campus in Orange County back in the late 70's, and they are just as sharp live as they are in the recording studio. I used to refer to them as Hawaiian Jazz back then. I am pleasantly surprised that they have a reunion, I look forward to getting my hands thier latest CD.

Seawind reunion CD is only available in Japan currently. Their website has information as to how to get it. kt5 was correct, most songs are rearrangemen t s with a couple of new ones. All are back with exception of Jerry Hey (trumpet) and have added Al Jarreau on one. Larry Williams (keyboard/sa x ) is an arranger/key b o a r d for Jarreau. www.seawindj a z z . c o m
I loved this group! she's a fantastic vocalist and the music was excellent. They opened for Geroge Benson in Lake Tahoe back in the 70's. I'm very interested in the 2009 reunion cd as listed by kt5. I read in a Japanes site that she had a tribute cd out in 2005 (I think). Covers of various female singers; but not able to buy it online due to money transfer, or some such thing. Anybody have lead on the 09 reunion cd? Let me know...Art

I recently attended a local music festival (on Maui) and they kept playing this wonderful Seawind-esqu e music between acts. After a while I had to go over to the sound booth and ask what it was. Low and behold it was a BRAND NEW 2009 "reunion" cd of Pauline and all the original players all sounding great! ..all new performances of Seawind classics and some new material. There were fun contrasting "then and now" group photos on the back.. the new one with the identical wardrobe and pose as the o
That's what I loved about them, pastorlen. But where are all their albums? All Pandora seems to have is the one Japanese release! (Looks like maybe a 'best of'.) What about "Window of a Child"? That's one of my all-time favorite albums by anyone!
James - I agree with you. Real people singing real music that is reflective of their faith without falling into the CCM trap
I MISS THIS GROUP.SINCE THEIR FIRST ALBUM THEY ARE GREAT TO ME BECAUSE OF THEIR CHRISTIAND POINT OF VIEW.I BELIEVE THAT MORE SINGERS SHOULD BE SINGING IN THIS POSITIVE VEIN INSTEAD OF THE BS THAT THEY SING NOW
