I've been listening to this song for years, and i never knew it was a cover of Postal Service. I hate when that happens. There should be a law that says you have to verbally reference the original artist in the beginning or the end of the cover song. Anyone can play a music, but writing is where the real talent comes in. I love the Shins though, and always will. They write some great stuff.....i think.
zach people do covers all the time, its not stealing a song at all. look up any song on YouTube and i will bet you there is at least ten covers of it and they are not getting sued. of course the postal service know they covered this song, because the postal service is getting royalties for it, so don't say the shins stole it because they did not, the made it their own, and in some peoples opinion for the better.
Ah why do you call me Zahariah ? The point is if the postal serivice maid this song first then It could easily turn into a law suite between two bands that I highly sugest anyone listening to. The Shins are a great band and they have some great pieces don't get me wrong but It could end being called agianst them..... and their is more than 8 songs by the postal serivice BTW.
As both a Shins and a Ben Gibbard fan... I think this cover is just awful. James Mercer should really stick to his own music, or at least stay away from Gibbard's. This does not work well. And you... um, you with the long name... I sincerely hope you are kidding, because that text is so ridiculously misspelled it must be fake, and this song is on a PS album...
Question, who did it first? Postal Service or the Shins? Like Iron and White did an acoustical cover of Such Great Heights, but this Shins album is titled Such Great Heights...
