When that bass synth comes in... It becomes a pure other worldly experience.

Let me say, on a positive note , the song "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is locked in my mind NOT just for tickling my emotions (or my "ear buds") as many rock chaff-like songs did, but because the older UCC pastor @my college town childhood church used it to tell of Jesus mission here on earth. (During heyday of that song, before the young pastor took over & began ripping us, and Anerica, week after week!)

I liked S & G - A LOT - in teen years, but even before becoming saved at 20, I always wondered if someone as clever and articulate as Simon really EVER sought out the "poorer quarters only ragged know...." & wondered if the "li la li" wasn't a "Freudian refrain" - ie, the song a lie promoting something he'd not experienced. So today, googled his bio & saw indeed, college prof Dad, solid upbringing, school musicals w/ Garfunkel, etc. - too bad he, with "Mrs Robinson", etc, became so morose, hatin

never knew it was a snare drum in an elevator. I always had visions of gunshots or somebody banging a tin trash can.

Love this song, especially the dramatic string part at the end.

It's all or nothing and possibly all for nothing in no particular order. Swing, Hits, or miss's. A great wanderer's theme song here.

I read this song as poem in High School, one of the only good grades I got. I am not sure why, but really liked the emotions it expressed.
