If this song really does refer to St. Cecilia as Ben suggests, that actually makes a whole lot of sense.

I used to get really annoyed by this song because I didn't like it but it's SO catchy. I think I've grown to appreciate it. I do think it reflects Simon's interest in world music, which became more and more prominent in his solo career...
What's a "typical" S&G song? I think Cecilia fits in perfectly well among songs like Mrs. Robinson, 59th Street Bridge Song, and Richard Corey.
