Add my vote for a good bio ! If you compare Singers Unlimited recordings to those that came after them (in no particular order) - The Real Group, New York Voices, Manhattan Transfer, to name a few - SU doesn't take a backseat AT ALL. And if you can't hear Bonnie Herman in all those groups, you're not listening. True art is timeless.

Probably the finest close harmony acappella 4'some ever to sing and record in the U S of A.!!

A one of a kind group - so musical and interesting. Special!

I purchased my first two Swingle Singers albums around 1971 or 1972 and the music was classical scores (e.g., Brahms, Mozart, etc.) adopted to voice. It was amazing! Then they move to the kinds of music you hear on these selections. I never get tired of listening to them.

Perfection. It is impossible to better this group. They are the creme de al creme!

what a POOR, uninformativ e bio byRon Wynn Rovi - The Singer's Unlimited are and were the Epitome of advanced close harmony, mixed, vocal Quartets ever created in the musical world! Their voice quality and blend and pitch control, not to exclude their constant joyful musical attitude' and quiet assurance in delivery and phrasing have NEVER been surpassed, let alone equaled!!

Having been a member of an acapella group in the distant past we patterned our vocals after this outstanding group as well as others. Can never get tired of such great harmonies!

This group is as refreshing as any group singing today. They have superb musicianship , inventive harmonies and a sense of communicatin g vocally that is incomparable . Modern day groups can't come close.

Probably one of the most influential groups I listened to since high school, right up there with Tower of Power and Earth, Wind, and Fire. Probably, even, a big reason I continued to be involved with vocal jazz groups as a listener, singer, and director for the last 35 years. In college I sang in vocal jazz groups, as a music teacher I directed them in schools, and as a school administrato r , have started them and currently direct one (while being the school principal).

Having sung for many years in mixed ensembles, quartet then soloist I have the greatest admiration for TSU. Blends and harmonics are unbeatable. Unless it was The Four Freshmen. All Time Tops.

Growing up listening to Doo Wopp and later singing barbershop with Sweet Adelines - The Singers Unlimited fill a void in my musical soul that marries the sounds I love and transport me to a place of pure enjoyment.

I've have been a ardent follower of The Singers Unlimited since being introduced to their sound in 1970 while a sophomore in high school in Chicago, Il. From that point forward, I have been hooked on any and all singing groups that have followed and or copied their style! May they all live forever in our hearts and minds! Truly four awesome talents! We have been fans of The Singers Unlimited for several years after hearing one song on a jazz station in So. IL. They are much more that an A Capella group as stated in your bio. After hearing them the first time we purchased their muiti-disc set. It is outstanding. There is some great work with Oscar Peterson. Not much better then there their arrgt of Rainy Day.....It is great. I suggest your bio be updated. It must be several years old.

Thanks to The Sing-Off, I've been inspired to revisit some of the most influential music of my teenage years. I was actively involved in the vocal jazz ensemble throughout high school, and even sang with Soundsation Vocal Jazz Ensemble at Edmonds Community College in Lynwood, WA for a bit. Loved The Singers Unlimited and The Swingle Singers (& sang many of their challenging & beautiful arrangements ) . Happy to have found them here. Any other former Soundsation- e r s out there?

I was one of the original Suntones which will celebrate their 50th anniversary next March. We sang barberhop most of the time but were in vocal heaven when doing the HiLo close harmony in Through the Years and others. I also had the honor of being in a vocal workshop at the U of Miami with Gene Puerling. I thought the HiLo's sounded good because they could record til it was perfect, then I heard them live in the Miami Beach auditorium and was awestruck. Love these groups!

Great to go back to this wonderful group I used to listen to lots! Great memories of the music of the 70's and early 80's.

If you like this type of vocal talent pull up the work of the HiLos. Purling was the arrangement guru and Don Sheldon was in the group. Clark Burrows was the top lead and sported a high g above middle c range. Singers Unlimited have a 7 cd boxed set that overflows with great stuff..

I first leaned about Singers Unlimited in the late 70's when I was part of my HS vocal Jazz group. I have been a fan ever since. I once had the opportunity to participate in a workshop conducted by Gene Puerling; it was a truly unforgettabl e experience. Phenomenal group with talent rarely seen today.

alright. I'm gonna take a guess and say I'm THE youngest person listening to this group. I've grown up with jazz and vocal music, and Singers Unlimited's rendition of Both Sides Now is so beautiful it's practically a lullaby. I wish there were more contemporary groups with that level of skill.

Gene Puerling will rank among the 20th Century's musical giant geniuses. The reach of his gift extends even into contemporary artists, like The Real Group, and it's "Gene Jr.", Anders Edenroth. It's a shame there aren't legions more like him, and Anders.

Absolutely, totally my kind of a capella music. I love the close harmony.

This is beautiful. So many vocal jazz groups just seem a little cheeky to me. Yeah - agreed - let's get a bio up here.

I have to agree with Bill "Orange" Lyons, that this amazing vocal group deserves more of a comprehensiv e bio than what's written here. Surely you guys can research them a little bit online and say more than two measly sentences about this truly groundbreaki n g vocal group!

Gene Puerling was a genius. Check out the Hi-Lo's and you can see what a master he was at arranging and crafting unforgettabl e harmonies.

This group, and its predecessor, the Hi Lo's, stand alone as the most exquisite vocal groups of modern times- due, not only to the marvelous voices, but to Gene Puerling's arrangements .

I had the privledge of knowing Gene Puerling. He was a master arranger from his days with the "HI-LO's" all the way to the "SINGER'S UNLIMITED". His layering of tracks with just 4 voices was a stroke of genius. Although he has passed away, he will live on in his fine arrangements .

Another confirmation of Ross and Bill. Great voice balance and shared impact and I'm not even trained musically" Just a lay ear but hopefully responsive to superb sound! Also surprised with your limited Bio. Just a constructive comment. Pandora is an awesome service!

Totally agree w/Bill ORANGE Lyons. How can there be so little of a blurb for a group which has, arguably, no peer in its particular niche (its OWN niche, actually). Gene Puerling is a MEGA-GIANT GENIUS in this genre as arranger/per f o r m e r ; his arranging work over the years has had a huge influence.

Dear Pandora Staffers,

My first attempt at sending you something was over 500 words so I am re-sending this. If it did come through then this one will be moot. If not...Anyway to make a long story short, The Singers Unlimited "blurb" deserves more than what it currently has and as a former music major and music college graduate I have prepared something for you. What you have there really isn’t your fault. As a vocal major and an a cappella guru (I can take
