This Albany, NY, rock band plays modern rock with anthemic blues-inspired singing courtesy of vocalist Melanie Krahmer. Bassist Rich Libutti, drummer Greg Nash, and guitarist Mike Stiener provide the backing for Krahmer's distinctive singing. The name Sirsy came from a childhood nickname of singer Melanie Krahmer, whose younger sister couldn't quite pronounce "sister." Originally the group played covers, but eventually began writing original material. The first release for the hard-working group was Baggage, released in 2000. Their next release came two years later, Away From Here, and found the group further refining their groove-oriented pop sound. That same year saw Sirsy release a three-song DVD, The Three Little Videos, and a live album, At This Time (Live). ~ Wade Kergan, Rovi
