Alternative CCM rockers Skillet formed in Memphis, TN, around the nucleus of lead singer and bassist John Cooper, guitarist Ken Steorts, and drummer Trey McClurkin. Debuting in 1996 with a self-titled LP, the trio returned two years later with Hey You, I Love Your Soul. Invincible followed in early 2000, and the group contributed three tracks to the Ardent Worship: Skillet Live compilation that same year. With a new lineup of Cooper on bass and lead vocals, his wife Korey Cooper on guitar and keyboards, Ben Kasica on guitar, and Lori Peters on drums, Skillet released Alien Youth on Ardent Records in 2001, followed by Collide, also on Ardent, in 2003. The latter album was then picked up by Lava/Atlantic and reissued the following year with a bonus track. Collide went on to be the band's best-selling album to date (even earning them a Grammy nomination), and the band supported the record on tours with bands like Saliva and Shinedown. Skillet's next effort for the label, Comatose, appeared in fall 2006, followed by Awake in 2009. ~ Jason Ankeny & Steve Leggett, Rovi

Never seen these guys in concert, but am very pleased to hear that they are stating the gospel clearly and plainly at their concerts!! I have always enjoyed skillet's music and will do so even more no that I know they stand up for what they believe in even when they are on stage. Keep preaching the good news guys!!! God has gifted you all and It's awesome to see you using those gifts for his glory!!!

@ Heather Powers - I've seen Skillet several times and I don't feel that they preach and push their beliefs down anyone's throat. They just state it very matter of a fact what Christ has done for them and what they believe. You're right everyone has a choice and they chose Christ and to share Him with the world, if you don't want to listen then tune it out when they talk about Christ. Maybe it bothers you so much because you know there is truth in what they share.
Lori Peters did all of the drumming on Comatose. Jen Ledger joined the band while they were touring and promoting comatose. Think about it, if Jen was on Comatose, wouldn't she have sung to some capacity? Korey does all of the backup vocals on that album..

The bio has it wrong. By the time Comatose came out the Drummer changed to Jen Ledger. Take that bio guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Jason Ankeny & Steve Leggett)
I'm not religious by any imagination, but Skillet is a really good band that rocks pretty hard. It's a shame that people have to come on here and bash on them because they stand for something that they aren't. Too bad they no longer together I'd see them in concert...no doubt.
You guys rock! By far my favorite band! I had the pleasure of seeing you in concert this year finally and it was by far the best concert I've EVER been to and I've been to lots! :} God Bless!
I'M CHRISTIAN AND I THINK WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS AMAZING SHARE WHAT YOU BELEIVE IN LUV YA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@heatherpowers Why do you find it annoying? Have you considered that there may be some people in the crowd who may want to hear it? Or thought about the implication for a Christian who believes that anyone who does not trust in Christ is going to hell for eternity? Watch (athiest) Penn Jillette's youtube video on Christian proselytism. While I agree that many Christians do this badly and disrespectfully, for them to not share their faith with you is actually a pretty hateful thing.
@heatherpowers Their message is Christianity, and they do those mainstream concerts to get their message out. If everyone has a right to believe what they want, then what's stopping them from trying to spread the truth? Really, it's no different than all the moral relavtivists saying that you can't push your beliefs on someone. Stop being a hypocrit and just listen to the great music.
i love skillet i saw them in concert for the first time this year and i absolutely loved them i know many are entitled to your own opinions but i am a true catholic and i love skillet =)

Somehow Skillet manages to make me feel what they do and they capture my life in a song. Awesome. They are a good band and I'm glad they stand up for Jesus, even when you sometimes can't understand how their songs are Christian. They are a great band.
While I do like there music, the fact that they push their Christian beliefs at concerts is really annoying. I believe what I want too, it's everyone's personal choice... don't preach to me. There are a diverse multitude that attends their concerts..not everyone is Christian... and they are Rock, not Hard Rock. SOAD would be Hard Rock, please get your genres right.
LayneTheLegend you obviously didn't read their bio or don't know how to do math because they have been making music & signed to a label for the last 16 years...a lot longer than 15 minutes...for the record.
haaaaaaaaaaaa. epic? hard rock?? this is a 15 minute band at best.
sirjman99
Skillet is epic! If you dont like it you obvously dont like real Hard Rock.
