Soilwork

The Swedish metal sextet Soilwork formed in early 1997, fusing the country's signature ultra-heavy death metal sound with the power-groove riffs of late-'70s, early-'80s British and European metal. Vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid, guitarists Peter Wiches and Ola Frenning, and drummer Henry Ranta were all veterans of the Swedish scene by the time they recorded their first demo, In Dreams We Fall into the Eternal, in 1997; bassist Ola Flink became a permanent member afterward, as did keyboardist Carlos Del Olmo Holmberg. Their official debut album, Steelbath Suicide, was released in 1998 and wound up landing Soilwork a U.S. deal with Century Media. The follow-up, The Chainheart Machine, appeared in 2000. Predator's Portrait followed a year later. The band kept up the momentum yearly with Natural Born Chaos in 2002, Figure Number Five in 2003, the Early Chapters EP in 2004, Stabbing the Drama in 2005, and the Sworn to a Great Divide CD/DVD in 2007. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi

The intro to Nerve had me headbanging and that doesn't happen often. Trivium radio has once again showed me a good band.

I cannot get enough of this band, I think my favorite albums would definitely have to be Sworn To A Great Divide and Stabbing The Drama. I am in love with the sounds the produce.

NBC combined it all perfectly for me.

Stabbing the Drama is my favorite, no doubt. The only one I listen to all the way through.

@ I Hate... I dunno man, for me, Figure 5 is their weakest effort, although I still do like the album. Its still Soilwork... Its the album I listen to the least we'll say. I actually think The Living is their stongest effort to date although Stabbing is a more long lasting album.
Report as inappropriate
Hey Lump I agree with you on Stabbing but disagree about figure, for me figure # 5 should be about 4th or so.

IMO, the vocalist of In Flames is the weak link.
Report as inappropriate
Lol I do agree. To my taste in flames is better. But they're both very talented. \m/^^\m/ To me my favorites in my top 5 would have to be 1. Sybreed 2. In flames. 3 Insomnium. 4 Shai Hulud and 5. Dark Tranquility. Love them all. ^^

Awesome stuff! But...uh...* c o u g h * In Flames is better *cough*

Gotta love how versatile the entire band is, every album has a different sound, and it's all AMAZING! Speed reminds me of Rob Halford, how he can constantly warp his vocals to suit the needs of the songs and the parts within them.
