Solitude Aeturnus

Getting their start under the name Solitude back in 1987, guitarist John Perez fronted Solitude Aeturnus' from the start as they were gigging around the Dallas, TX area before releasing their first full-length "Into the Depths of Sorrow" in 1991. Their label King Classic went belly up not too long after their debut was released, but not before Solitude got hooked up with Roadrunner Records the following year. 1992 saw their follow-up "Beyond the Crimson Horizon," which like their first record, had all the bleak elements of a quintessential doom metal band: heavy riffs, loud vocals, slow, thundering drums and doomsday's lyrics. Their third album "Through the Darkest Hour" being their major label debut on BMG records was followed by a European tour and a chance to tour with Merceful Fate -not to mention having the opportunity to hang with their hero and Merceful Fate frontman King Diamond. With "Downfall" being their forth and last album for BMG, 1999's "Adagio" was released by Olympic Records after a three year hiatus of label searching and constant touring. ~ Wes Tumbell, Rovi

Yo, Metalkittie- H o w the hell do you 'know' they never rocked for Jesus?!
You know them personally, I suppose? Well, no-one needs your sanctimoniou s , uninformed, anti-Christ bullshit. 'Cause they did. I suppose you think you are cooler than Mustaine, too, huh? Get a clue. There is only one King of Kings, who created music for us, and someday you are going to bend your knee to Him.

Perfect Insanity on Through The Darkest Hour is replaced by Eternal for some reason

Rip off of Opeth? Check your facts cuz they started this band before Opeth was a band.

Saw their show with MF in the 90's in Denver. Had never heard if them. Became a huge fan. Best band you have never heard of.

The band does remind me of such greats as Candlemass, Cathedral, of course Black Sabbath, Trouble, and others. Long Live Doom Metal

I usually prefer death/funera l doom to this style, but these guys are pretty rocking.

This rules!!!!!!

It would be nice if pandora would get the rest of their albums. and it would be great if pandora got more of this style of doom in general; it keeps playing thrash and stoner metal on my candlemass station. anda lot of traditional/ e p i c doom bands aren't on here.

They NEVER rocked for Jesus!

If their vocalist is now the vocalist for candlemss, whos their singer now? or did they break up?

That's gay. It's f**kin' doom. It's not supposed to be cheery.
And nobody cares about that Christian s**t.
They're not doing it for the money. It's f**king heavy dark doom awesomeness.

I wish these guys would cheer up a little. They grew up Christian so why not? In fact. These guys still preach in Asia and ask for donations on the TV. They are related to Jimi Swaggert the TV evangelist. Maybe this band is just a way to make a little extra spending money? They can carry a tune otherwise its average.

chaga chaga chaga at it's best. Cool doom Metal. To whomever wrote about the 1st album. You are Wrong. That album was quite descent for a debut (no flap as you suggested). Also, you need to fix this little problem of music just cuting out when I'm starting to enjoy it! Its anoying and starting to piss me off.

Otherwise Rock On!

Used to party with two members of the band back when they were gigin in Arlington TX. Sundays----P i z z a , Beer, and the Wizard. The original version of " Where Angels Dare to Tread" is still the best song.

From what I've heard of the band so far, it seems like they're just a darker ripoff of Opeth, without the beauty of Lindgren and Åkerfeldt's guitar melodies.
