Being A Dad
Dreaming California
Save Me San Francisco
Best known as the lead singer for the rock band Train, Pat Monahan is a longtime performer in his own right. Born in Erie, PA, in 1969, Monahan moved to California in 1993 and began singing in coffeehouses around San Francisco with guitarist Rob Hotchkiss. The duo added members, named […] themselves Train, and eventually found success with the 2001 album DROPS OF JUPITER. In 2006, Train decided to take a break from touring and recording, and Monahan accepted an offer to write music with British singer/songwriter and producer, Guy Chambers, for a Tina Turner project.
The creative partnership stuck, and soon Monahan was writing music with Chambers and others with an eye on his own album. He released his solo album LAST OF SEVEN on Sony in 2007, and began a nation-wide tour in support of it. The first single from Last of Seven, “Her Eyes” reached the Top 10 of the Billboard’s Hot AC chart. He followed the tour up with a small, intimate acoustic tour, which inspired his LAST OF SEVEN Acoustic compilation.
Pat struck platinum again with his band, Train. He and the band regrouped and renewed, channeled their San Francisco roots and recorded SAVE ME, SAN FRANCISO in 2009. The release yielded 2010’s biggest song, “Hey Soul Sister,” which hit #1 at radio in the US and in 15 countries abroad as well. Pat and Train won a Grammy as well for “Hey Soul Sister,” along with numerous other awards. Other singles from SMSF “If It’s Love” “Marry Me” and the title track were huge hits as well. SAVE ME, SAN FRANCISCO has sold over one million albums worldwide and over ten million tracks.
Pat and the band are currently promoting CALIFORNIA 37, which was released last year. The album has garnered two hit singles, “Drive By” and “50 Ways To Say Goodbye,” with the songs “Mermaid” and “Bruises” quickly rising on the radio charts. Look for Pat to co-host and perform with Train on The Talk (house band for week of January 29), NFL’s Pro Bowl, The Tonight Show and many more throughout 2013.
