Rio de Janeiro has about 6,000 youth working for armed drug dealers in favelas. This project offers productive alternatives that promote self esteem and dignity.

Raise $10,800 to support the project's annual needs to buy & maintain instruments & costs of paying the professors; as well as stipends for the student teachers (the most advanced students give beginner lessons to the younger children). The project has space for computers and would like to offer the students IT courses that would aid them in many ways.

Music skills learned at Reciclarte are the catalyst for changes in other areas of children's lives such as completing education, a stronger sense of self-esteem and good citizenship. Two recent students have won scholarships to study in the US.
