Canterbury Tales
created by: Crash
January 15, 2009

In 1979 I was working with a Thai immigrant named Henry R. Henry had come to the U.S. to study during the late 60's and ended up being totally fascinated by, absorbed into, and eventually an archivist of hippy culture. He was a really great guy and had a huge record collection. Hank loved to spend hours after work listening to and talking about music, drinking wine and smoking good weed.

I thought I was already a bonafied British progressive rock fan at the time because I listened to Pink Floyd and Yes and Genesis and had been to see Yes live 3 times.

Then Hank got out the Matching Mole and Hatfield and the North records. I didn't find out until decades later, after the internet, that this sub-class of british prog rock was known as Canterbury scene, named after the place of it's origin. I did check out the band geneologies back then and figured out that this music was at the roots of all I thought was BritProg at the time.

Hank was a huge huge fan of this music and I dedicate this station to him, wherever he is.
