Prog Rock Paradise
created by: Tom O'H
November 4, 2007

This is the thinking person's progressive rock station. Deep prog tunes with complexity and heart can be found here. You will enjoy classic as well as newer art rock progressive. This symphonic prog rock includes Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP), The Moody Blues, Marillion, Renaissance, Peter Gabriel, Rush, U.K., Steve Hackett, October Project, The Strawbs, Supertramp and much more. Some also like to refer to selected works as space rock or, in some cases, psychedelic rock. This is the place to find layered waves of keyboards, complicated harmonies and the deep ethereal and cosmic art rock tunes that really should be on the radio, especially in a progressive rock (prog rock) format. It is much like on WFUV 90.7FM in New York or WNEW-FM (wnew-fm) in the late 1970s. Many of us are still in the New York radio air around you, but in different places. Do you also remember those late nights in the New York tri-state area on WFUV's Rock Block when progressive was a real art form? Perhaps you also enjoyed a good musical fantasy with Allison Steele, The Night Bird, who was doing her part up the dial a bit on 102.7FM? British Progressive rock is a big part of it here at Prog Rock Paradise. See more artists listed below. Big synthesizer and mellotron laced prog is here for the synth art lovers. Bands such as Marillion and Porcupine Tree are just a couple of examples of modern day prog art rock groups that keep this genre alive and well with their talent.

If you're looking for progressive rock music that takes you somewhere and lights up more brain cells, you're in the right place. If you enjoy synths, cosmic vocals, blazing guitars, love, adreneline, adventure, depth, some sarcasm, healthy skepticism, fun and a willingness to rise above the everyday stuff, welcome my friend. This is the prog rock that dreams are made of and it is a real prog rock fest.

Here are some favorite artists, to name a few, that make Prog Rock Paradise what it is: 10cc, Barclay James Harvest, Be Bop Deluxe, Camel, Cream, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Electric Light Orchestra, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Greg Lake solo, Keith Emerson solo, Gary Wright, Genesis, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, David Gilmour, Godley and Creme, Jon Anderson, Kitaro, Jon and Vangelis, ABWH Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe, Kansas, King Crimson, Klaatu, Led Zeppelin, Marillion, Moody Blues, Naked Eyes, The Nice, October Project, Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Chris Squire, Pete Townshend, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, Queen, Renaissance, Rick Wakeman, Roxy Music, Rush, Saga, Starcastle, Split Enz, The Alan Parsons Project, Vangelis, The Doors, U.K. and The Who.

Radio Inspirations that brought so called prog or progressive rock to New York with cosmic cuts and great late night FM radio: WNEW-FM 102.7, WFUV 90.7 and others like them who embraced progressive rock for what it is. Prog Rock is a complex, lyrical and layered journey that reaches both the heart and the mind.
