A sound that started out with a very small following, Minimal Techno and House have grown to have a huge representation in the modern underground dance scene. This explosive growth has really brought about some great new sounds as more and more producers have begun to release their take on the sound. Whether it's the long, repetitive side of the Techno sound or the groovier side of house, the minimal sound is marked by its stripped down, bare bones rhythms. Involving little more than a bass kick and some high hats, the rhythms are, well...minimal, for lack of a better word, and yet the sound is very engaging and often quite cerebral.

Some artists that have done some incredible work with this sound are Loco Dice, M.A.N.D.Y, Trentmoller and Richie Hawtin (aka Plasticman) the undisputed heavyweight champion of the sound and one of the original Godfathers of Techno. So kick back and get ready to be mentally engaged by the minimal sound. It truly is a wonderful form of electronic music and one that I am personally glad has gained some strong representation in the dance scene.
