This station is on the surface, a glaring hip hop contradictio n . You find gansta rap melodies mixed with conscious rap, but that is hip hop, seemingly contradictory . One thing the music has in common is innovative melody and uncompromising lyrics. This is hip hop at it's core.

Headlining the station is DJ Quik, who is hip hop's most brilliant talent, an amazing musician, producer, DJ, emcee, and performer. He was also very contradicory, a G from Compton with blood ties who at one time renounced his gang ties on Rhythmalism. This is hip hop at it's essence, negative juxtaposed with positive, ghetto youth seeking redemption through music.
