cbgb/omfug....dedicated to memory of cbgbs/omfug..greenich village,new york city(to us,simply the village)..im from north jersey,and was fortunite to walk the streets that punk came from..and withnessed the emergence of it...simple as that....been there....seen that...done that..wrecked that s**..what stood at 3l5 bowery street,the east side...to THE BANDS WHOM PLAYED ON THAT WOODEN MAKESHIFT STAGE..to the graffitti in the bathrooms.to the rancid smell of booze on the floor..and to the JOEY RAMONE SHRINE...THE MEMORIES SHALL NOT PASS...to the founder,HILLY KRISTAL,for starting it all in l973...up to the night the music died...and the doors closed..l4 oct.2006...PUNK AINT DEAD..it lives in all of us that walked thru those doors,off of bleeker street,into the dim lights.and my fondest and sad goodbye to our friend,HILLY.for giving only giving us,those whom attended the nightly insanity of the club,but for giving not only us artistic freedom,when the doors opened in 1974,but a place we could go to and withness some of the best bands--period..and just enjoy the place..THANK YOU,HILLY..1931-2007..AND A MOMENT OF REFLECTION..he was die hard,and for the many times that i had the chance to talk with him..just a simple..THANK YOU!!....you had your s**t together and thats real!!..and those that came across from north jersey,into the port authority,by bus and walked down to the place.just bopping along the streets of new york city..on any friday or saturday night....and to those whom withnessed the very beginnings of THE RAMONES....it was all one f**king good time..even if things sometimes got insane!!!
