Sublime 101

Big Up! Sublime,
Combining a variety of genre; breakneck speed Ska punk, smoothe Soulful rock, enticing Chill dub, Hip-hop reggae, and Socal Surf. Remember Bradley's Sweet, Boisterous, and Soulful voice? His lyrics were Clever, Carefree, and Smart. We'll play Distinct sounds very similar including Elvis costello's vibrato, Billy Stritch (tenor), a phish tone, and "wicky & wiley" lyrics like lauryn hill's "Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest."

You'll hear Covers, Samples, Similar sounds... you Name it!

Dub/Reggae Orignators
- Marley & "Scratch' Perry/ King Tubs

Bradley would sing Whitney Houston,
- so you'll hear Rnb music as well...

Half-Pint & u-roy style!

Toots and Maytals - 54-46 That's my Number
- I've seen toots live. Great reggae w/ call-response and such a groove.

Krs-one
- hip-hop. Originality, Respect, and Truth. what separates unoriginal Pepper from Sublime.

Jimi Hendrix
- "Under my Voodoo" ending has stereo pan.

Beach Boys
- Summery cali surf ("sublime were the badass beach boys. Tattoos, drugs, and a punk rock attitude.")

Grateful Dead
- Summery-Trip carefree feelgood jam.

Nirvana - Rape me
Nowell said he tried to emulate Cobain. Similar "Date Rape"

"Steve Miller Band on a bad trip. Garden Grove recalls irritable 70's Miles Davis (On the Corner, Agharta etc.)" - 77Jim ****I added these albums, but I may reconsider)****

Matisyahu
- great deep reggae with freesyling/beatbox/soulful vocals mixed with hip-hop and rock music

KARATE:
-a an overall clean pure rock sound.
-the connection between all bass drum and guitars is phenomenal; complementing each-other like parts of a puzzle.
-great amazing guitar vamping(improvisation) that gives the song individuality. matching nowell's multi-dimensional signature style; minimal Pinch Harmonics (the "make your guitar squeal" technique)

***** i have added seeds based Allmusic.com and rewind selector "recycled" songs Sublime covered.

Sublime 101 has identical bands to Substylie like The Expendables. I am THINKING about adding LBDA/shortbus, Beastie Boys, Arrested development and Slightyl SToopid... (Pepper are posers!)

I couldn't add The Falling Idols...
but their guitarist Ross Fletcher heavily influenced Brad:
