i've been jaded with music for some time. yeah, i can listen to jeff buckley and still get some shivers but nothing new has moved me. i had even reclassified my musical tastes as not including metal any more. everything seemed bland, rehashed, lacking emotive dynamics.

some of you may know him from strapping young lad. this man defies description. some call it metal, progressive metal, industrial... he is LOUD. think wall of sound. but he's NOT noise, which i have come to think of most heavy metal as. there is melody, and textures, and layers. his vocal stylings range from operatic to screeching to guttural. his guitar and keyboard work is beyond commendable, and he is a genius at the sound board. this man is brilliant.

hopefully this pandora radio station will uncover further brilliance. who knows.
