A triumvirate of Prog Rock Bass players.

I've seen Yes at least 3 times, and Chris Squier's solos were always a highlight for me.

Tony Levin has had quite a career, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, and a stint in the 70's NY Jazz/Funk unit, Stuff. They played Paul Simon's backup band in the late 70's movie One Trick Pony and featured Richard Tee, Eric Gale and Steve Gadd. If you listened to Jazz in the late 70's you know. The "stuff" guys (Great band, lousy band name!) were on everything for a few years there. Check out Peter Gabriels Live DVD. It showcases Tony so well. I didn't know until I saw it that he sometimes plays with little round tipped drumsticks on the end of his fingertips. Crazy. The guy is extremely inovative, probably why he's been in demand for such a long stretch.

Stu Hamm. If you ever see a Joe Satriani show, and Hamm is in the band, the crowd will at some point start ominously chanting "Stuuu, Stuuuu". After which you might be treated to a jawdropping 15 minute bass solo which may or may not be a medley of the orange blossom special and the entire B side of the Abbey Road album. Upon conclusion thereof, Joe will usually say something like "They don't call him Hamm for nothin'".
Hamm belongs here. Melodic, aggressive, always powerful.
