Bristol Tourism, In 1927, Ralph Peer with Victor Records went to Bristol TN/VA to record “mountain music.” These recordings, titled The Bristol Sessions, launched the careers of music legends The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers. The recordings are also referred to as the “Big Bang of Country Music” because of the colossal impact it made on the country music industry. In 1998, Bristol was declared by the U.S. Congress as the official Birthplace of Country Music.
