The Rough Noise station is about unpolished music: the inept and savage, the crude and sweet; Artists that value creative spirit over dogged virtuosity. Great musicianship isn't completely out of sight on Rough Noise but it does not trump the raw imagination at work with most of these artists. Most of these artists would rather pound it into you than leave you to your own devices. It is a realm where subtlety is not exactly common place and the artists have something usually very specific to tell you. James Chance, Steve Albini, Ian MacKaye, and other nut job geniuses can be found on this station. although this station does not have a particular genre in mind, it does focus on the single idea that music belongs to everybody; not just the talent snobs.
