"THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED" I had attended in person, the Winter Dance Party two days before the plane crashed in Iowa. I enjoyed the performace best by Ritchie Valens at RIVERSIDE BALLROOM in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Then the next night they played at THE SURF BALLROOM in Clear Lake, Iowa and later that night, Feburary 2, 1959, the plane crashed killing Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson ( The Big Bopper ), and the pilot Roger Peterson in an Iowa cornfield along a fence line, a location that I have visited and paid respect at. I recall that Dion and the Belmonts and Frankie Sardo were also billed on that famous early rock tour.
