Jenn-ish Mildly Pretentious Light Pop-Rock

My sister likes a certain kind of music. It's hard to peg. Most of it is too esoteric or too pretentious or really popular in certain skinny-jeans-wearing, emo-hair social circles. Musically, it tends to have U2/Coldplay-ish "wall of sound" electronic droning combined with warbling, poorly mixed guitars (for that EXTRA Indie sounding street cred!!) and some pitiful, tortured bloke (either British or with a fake British-ish accent), wailing about the ridiculous, easily-avoided, torrid relationships from which five minutes of real thinking would have saved him.

Having said that, some of the most beautiful and poignant songs I've ever heard have come from something my sister has shown me -- indeed, something from this genre. "Phantom Limb" by the Shins is a great song and "What About Everything?" by Carbon Leaf continues to be one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. This genre, 99% of which kinda sucks, needs to be dredged and sifted through to find these precious, obscure gems. In furtherance of that end, I've created this station. Expect to see many more thumb-downed songs than thumb-upped songs. Negative reinforcement.
