A Tribe Called Quest

Q-Tip (Jonathan Davis), Phife (Malik Taylor) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad made a name for themselves in the late '80s with their intelligent and unique brand of hip hop – a laid-back, jazzy sound as opposed to the more aggressive and macho posturing of gangsta rap. A Tribe Called Quest would go on to produce some of the most popular albums of the mid-'90s, including The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders.

A Tribe Called Quest performs live on stage at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors – alongside fellow honorees Missy Elliott, Snoop Dogg and WHODINI. A Tribe Called Quest will be honored with performances by Common, Lupe Fiasco, LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes.
